Step into the revival of New England's old mills, where a new chapter is being written in luxury living. Abandoned for years, these historic structures have become the latest fascination for those seeking distinctive residences in bustling neighborhoods. The strategic locations of these mills, traditionally situated near waterways, make them especially attractive to prospective buyers.

In the heart of historic Newburyport, Massachusetts, landmarks like the Ocean Mills have evolved into museums, while others have been purchased with the ambitious goal of transforming them into upscale residences. Whether the aim is to flip and sublet these unique apartments or to create a one-of-a-kind living space, there is clearly an allure to mill living in the modern day.

The distinctive charm of mill living lies in the exposed timber of soaring ceilings, rugged brick walls, and expansive windows that characterize these spaces. Buyers therefore often face the choice of maintaining the lofted atmosphere or embracing the original industrial aesthetics.

In recent years, a third trend has emerged, gaining popularity—the fusion of both worlds. This approach preserves the original structural features of the space while infusing a modern design into the interior.

Many of these mills have existing fireplaces that, with minimal alteration, transform into captivating focal points. The industrial essence is retained through the use of brick or stone, adding character while serving a practical purpose.

Preserving the historic value of the space can be achieved by leaving certain areas with exposed brick. This can be a single accent wall or a carefully selected section painted in white or black for a modern touch. Alternatively, some choose to cover the brick walls, leaving the fireplace as the sole brick accent.

When choosing decor, art plays a pivotal role in enhancing these unique living spaces. Whether opting for a statement wall or maintaining all walls in original brick, carefully curated art can add interest without overwhelming the space. Additionally, introducing plants brings vibrancy to neutral surroundings, infusing life into your converted mill apartment with diverse shapes, sizes, and textures.

Explore the intersection of history and modern luxury as you embrace the distinctive appeal of mill living. These revitalized spaces offer a canvas for creativity, blending the best of the past with the comfort and style of contemporary living.

In a recent piece by Oliver Heath, the founder of Oliver Heath Designs, the therapeutic impact of incorporating natural elements into indoor spaces was highlighted. In New England, we would be hard-pressed to find somebody who doesn’t appreciate the appeal of the outdoors. For young children growing up in New England, it can be challenging to spend enough time outdoors during the winter months and to find somewhere to play. This blog post explores creative ways to infuse your basement playroom with elements inspired by nature, drawing inspiration from a recent project in Burlington, Massachusetts.

Transforming unfinished basements in part or full for children’s play areas is very common. It’s always a challenge to find a space on the first or second floor of a home to designate as a children's play area. Opting for a finished basement is a great solution to this problem, as the use of inorganic materials offers increased durability and resistance to potential damage, especially in comparison to traditional wooden floors.

While wooden flooring is discouraged in basement finishing, there are alternative approaches to incorporating this material into your design. Basements with existing wooden beams can retain the exposed beam aesthetic while refining the ceiling. Additionally, the introduction of greenery, such as potted plants, succulents, or natural wall art, fosters a natural atmosphere while also regulating humidity. This is very beneficial in a naturally humid basement environment.

Although it’s a challenge to get natural light in below-ground basements, strategic design choices can create the illusion of a brighter space. Opting for neutral colors and whites promotes more light to be reflected, while innovative solutions like RockWell window wells significantly amplify natural light. Unlike traditional metal window wells, RockWell's stone construction allows for a 60% increase in light, transforming your basement into a brighter and more inviting space.

When it comes to furnishing and accessorizing, you can use wooden chairs, tables, and building blocks to maintain a cohesive and earthy feeling in your basement playroom. These materials not only contribute to the aesthetic appeal but also align with the overarching theme of infusing nature-inspired elements into the design.

In conclusion, by incorporating these design elements, you can create a basement playroom that seamlessly blends with the tranquility of nature, providing an optimal space for children to play and grow.

Choosing A Paintable or Vinyl Wall System in Your Basement
2023-10-12T00:00:00.05Z
Sam Eastman
When finishing a basement, we have wall-finishing options. Each system has its own unique set of benefits, which appeal to different homeowners.

When finishing a basement, we have two wall systems. The first is EverLast vinyl wall panels, which do not grow mold or mildew and are a practical option in your basement. Historically, paint is a difficult choice in a wet basement because mold can grow on paint. Today, we have an option for homeowners who like the look of painted drywall without the threat of moisture damage. Our second option is a paintable system made of inorganic materials. This has the appearance of painted drywall without the risk of moisture damage.

When deciding to change the entire look of your newly finished basement, it’s essential to know the benefits of either option. The homeowners from a project in Groton, Massachusetts, struggled with this decision. What choice did they ultimately make, and what information did we provide them to help make the right decision for their project? This blog post will answer these questions about choosing a paintable or vinyl wall system in your basement.

EverLast vinyl walls are rugged and durable. They don’t dent or scratch easily and don’t require spackle and repainting. These walls make hanging pictures or heavier items such as TVs easy. If the nails need to be removed, they’re patched easily with a small amount of putty and don’t need to be color-matched to the rest of the wall. The panels are washable, making it easy for homes with pets or children to clean up messes.

EverLast vinyl walls are rugged and durable. They don’t dent or scratch easily and don’t require spackle and repainting. Our paintable system is made of the same inorganic materials as the vinyl system. The system does not require seam covers, so the wall is smooth and doesn’t look like other modular basement systems. This is an excellent choice for customers who like the look of painted drywall without the high risk of flood damage. This system comes with a 20-year transferable warranty. If you’re interested in either system and would like a more detailed conversation about the differences between them, visit the free estimate page of our website (https://www.blackdogbasements.com/free-estimate.htm)

Basement Finishing in Historic Homes
2023-09-11T00:00:00.05Z
Sam Eastman
Historic homes are beautiful and timeless, but it can be challenging to finish a basement. A project in Historic Concord, Massachusetts, inspired us to provide some insight into basement finishing for homes as old as nearly three hundred years.

For owners of older and historic homes, it is a well-known fact that basements can be challenging to finish. The inspiration for this blog post came from a project in Historic Concord, Massachusetts, where many of these homes have basements from as early as the 1700s. They can be prone to moisture, the stone or brick foundations they have may need maintenance, and they can be shorter and, therefore, harder to finish following the current code. Still, having an unfinished basement, especially one with a substantial mold odor, can feel like a sore spot in your house. This post will discuss some of these challenges and how they can be addressed.

Mold and Mildew

If your historical basement has a problem with mold or mildew, this could be due to the age of the foundation and the likelihood it was made of stone or brick. If a home has a moisture problem, we recommend getting professional waterproofing before going to a design/build contractor. Products like a SaniDry machine are great for keeping your basement from getting humid and musty, but if you have flooding or cracks in your foundation, it is best to have them sealed by experts in waterproofing.

Low Ceilings

With basements you believe may not be finishable due to their height, there is still hope. However, they need to be finished following code laws in your area. The current standard is 7 feet, with beams and girders spaces at least four feet in the center and not projected any more than six inches below the required ceiling height (International Code Council, 2020). Although a drop ceiling does decrease your basement height, choosing an alternative, such as spray painting your existing ceiling black, can be a way to meet guidelines.

7 Stunning Shower Designs To Elevate Your Basement Shower

Inspired by a recent project in Carlisle, Massachusetts, this blog post covers ten design ideas to elevate your basement shower.

We’ve all seen the classic plastic white shower with low-level acrylic bases. They are light and easy to install, but they can also chip, crack, and lead to water damage beneath. They’re as common and standard as possible, but how can you elevate your shower?

When renovating a basement in Carlisle, Massachusetts, we added a gym and updated their half-bathroom into a ¾ bathroom. When deciding to add a shower, they wanted this small area to reflect the style of the rest of their home. Ultimately, we created a gorgeous tiled shower with glass doors. This allowed them to have a practical place to clean up after exercising and extend their taste into every corner of their home.

Wet bars and dry bars. What is the difference and which one is right for you?

Dry Bars: Which is The Choice For You

Background: The idea for this blog post came from a recent job in Bedford, New Hampshire. Two women who had been best friends for many years decided to buy a house as an investment and live there together. They had a large, unfinished basement and a vision to use it for entertainment and their beautiful backyard. We created a ¾ bathroom for them and one large finished room. This included a simple but beautiful wet bar.

The Difference: A wet bar and a dry bar are created to ease the entertainment process at your home. However, there is a critical difference between them. A wet bar has a sink with running water, allowing people to wash their glasses and other dishes in the same place drinks are being created. A dry bar is only a space for preparing beverages and does not include running water.

Benefits of a Wet Bar: When is a wet bar the best option for your home? That depends on a few factors. The distance between your bar and the nearest sink in your home can contribute to this discussion. Having a flight of stairs and a long distance between your drinks and your nearest sink can be an added stress. A simple spilled drink can be a pain without running water nearby to clean it up quickly. If you plan to entertain regularly, running water is much more convenient.

Benefits of a Dry Bar: There is a price difference between wet and dry bars. Including a sink and running water can increase the price significantly, making a dry bar the more budget-friendly option. If the distance between the nearest sink and dry bar is relatively small, it can be the best option. They take up less space than a wet bar and can usually be moved with greater ease.

Designing Unique Spaces

From awkwardly shaped rooms to unusual layouts, it can be a challenge to design a unique space. How can you take a unique space from a spectacle and transform it into design inspiration? A job in Maynard, Massachusetts, was our inspiration for designing unique spaces.

From awkwardly shaped rooms to unusual layouts, designing a unique space can be challenging. How can you transform a unique space from a spectacle into design inspiration? A job in Maynard, Massachusetts, was our inspiration for designing impressive spaces.
A working couple living in a condominium in Maynard had their first baby on the way, but a unique layout. The first floor was a large mudroom, with the kitchen, living room, and bedroom on the second floor. The husband worked from home and wasn’t looking forward to the challenges of working ten feet away from a newborn. For this reason, they decided to convert their unfinished basement into an office. With sprinklers out of code, a central VAC in the middle, and unpainted walls, this seemed like a distant dream. We added a closet, painted the stairway and doors, installed a non-paintable wall system, and added gray ThermalDry flooring. This completed the space with time to spare before their baby arrived.

Cramped Space? Look Up

When your room is lacking in square footage, utilize height. Shelving can be an excellent method of creating extra storage space without losing square footage. Floating shelving is another popular design option, which is equal parts modern and functional.

Consider your walls

Wallpaper and patterns can have huge effects on spaces. In a large room, wallpaper with fine detail can be a lovely touch, whereas, in a small room, it can feel overwhelming and shrink the space. Lighting should also be considered, wherein in a unique room, the light may reach areas differently and ultimately change the color of the chosen wallpaper or paint (Ariane, 2022).

Odd or Oddly Cozy?

In uniquely shaped rooms, sections can feel smaller and more closed off. While these spaces can feel hard to decorate, decorations can save them. A small corner can feel claustrophobic when matched with more oversized furniture or shelving. However, adding interest-building items such as a bar cart, atlas, loveseat, or window seat can make it feel private and cozy.

A Quick Background on the Space

Last year, we completed a total Accessory Dwelling Unit remodel in Derry, New Hampshire. A couple contacted us in early 2022, hoping to update an unfinished Dwelling Unit their daughter was living above. The space had functional issues, including a broken water line that kept her from having a refrigerator in the unit upstairs. Instead of only repairing the water line, they finished the entire space.

The process of making this dwelling a livable unit was intensive, and one of the only elements of the space they kept was the original door separating the apartment and the finished room. Otherwise, everything was crafted specifically for the client. We installed an under-sink ejector pump in the kitchen, repaired the broken water line, and moved the dryer vent to a different wall to put the utilities in a more convenient location. We built a full bath with a roll-in shower and shower bench and added walnut elite plank flooring in the main space. This resulted in a beautiful area that could be used as an additional place for utilities.

1.

One of the least intensive ideas to add character to your ADU is to create an accent wall. This is a way to draw the eye while keeping costs low. This can mean adding a bright color pattern, a different color that stands out, wallpaper, or even a brick wall.

Which wall should you use for an accent wall? First and foremost, you want an accent wall to go somewhere you want attention. If you have a desk you don't particularly like or a kitchen you don't want to highlight, an accent wall may not be the best choice. Examples of the most common places to put these walls include the head of your bed, a TV wall, or even a primarily bare wall.

2.

One of the most common challenges of an ADU is the space limit that accompanies them. You can utilize furniture for multiple purposes to keep your space from being cluttered. For example, a bed with cabinets or storage space below can be a great way to keep your area looking neat with a space limit. Two other common choices are sofas with storage below the cushions and coffee tables with functional storage space.

3.

An option that is space-friendly and modern is to consider size when choosing furniture. Living in an ADU doesn't mean you should have a lot of large furniture cramped together, and it doesn't necessarily mean having small furniture, either. Modern designs tend to be more minimalistic, so choosing only a few stylish pieces of furniture is both in style and suitable for small spaces. This is another way of drawing the eye to a particular place without creating a distinct accent wall.

Decorating an ADU should be fun! There are many options for making a small space fit your style while maintaining its functionality.

After that was underway, we installed paintable walls and six-panel doors. We transformed his unfinished basement into a beautiful entertainment space, with espresso-colored Elite Plank flooring and Dusk-colored Prefinished Oak stair treads with primed risers. Ultimately, this gave the kids a place with play proof flooring to have fun without damaging their new space.

Adam found us online after a picture from one of our gym remodels piqued his interest. Two years earlier, he and his wife packed up their things and moved themselves and their two children 90 miles from their old home to Amherst. When they bought the house, it felt like a good size for their family, but after moving in everything they owned, their beautiful new space seemed to shrink. Their kids didn’t have enough space to play inside, and they had no area large enough to entertain comfortably.

Second, finishing your basement increases the value of your home by up to 70% of the renovation cost, according to a report by the National Association of Realtors. Third, it improves energy efficiency by reducing heat loss in the winter and cool air loss in the summer. Fourth, it provides extra storage space that can help declutter other areas of your home. Finally, it enhances overall comfort by creating a cozy and inviting space that can be controlled for temperature.

Increased living space. Finishing your basement provides you with an entire new level of living space that can be used for a variety of purposes. You can turn it into a family room, home theater, game room, or even a separate apartment for guests or rental income. Whatever your needs, a finished basement can give you the extra space you need to accommodate them.

Increased home value. A finished basement can also increase the value of your home. In fact, according to a 2020 report by the National Association of Realtors, finishing a basement can increase the resale value of a home by up to 70% of the cost of the renovation. This means that not only will you get to enjoy the benefits of a finished basement while you live in your home, but you’ll also see a return on your investment if you decide to sell.

Improved energy efficiency. Finishing your basement can also help improve the energy efficiency of your home. Unfinished basements are notorious for being damp and drafty, which can cause your home to lose heat in the winter and cool air in the summer. By finishing your basement with proper insulation, you can reduce the amount of energy your home uses to heat and cool itself.

Increased storage space. One of the biggest advantages of finishing your basement is the additional storage space it provides. You can use this space to store seasonal items, holiday decorations, or anything else that you need to keep out of sight. This can help free up space in other areas of your home, making it feel less cluttered and more organized.

Enhanced comfort. Finally, finishing your basement can make your home more comfortable to live in. By adding carpeting, lighting, and furniture, you can transform your basement into a cozy, inviting space that’s perfect for relaxing or entertaining. You can also control the temperature more easily with the help of a properly installed HVAC system, making your basement comfortable year-round.

In conclusion, finishing your basement can provide a host of benefits, including increased living space, increased home value, improved energy efficiency, increased storage space, and enhanced comfort. If you’re considering a basement renovation with Total Basement Finishing, a Blackdog Affiliate, these benefits are certainly worth considering.

On the inside, we demolished the existing space to make way for a properly installed, more pleasant-looking interior. Using a linen drop ceiling, TBF paintable wall panels, and a Dark Walnut Elite plank floor, this new basement made the old ones pale in comparison. Plus with the addition of a bathroom off to the side, this was now the perfect spot for movie night for the couple!

A lot of the basement was done poorly, and there were also some drainage issues with water getting in around their basement. So the decision to refinish the basement and TBF was brought in to remedy the problem. They just wanted to have this basement as another family room they could use to watch movies, so it wasn’t going to be a very complicated project, albeit necessary. They also liked the idea of having a half bath for convenience's sake, which their current basement lacked.

To make room for the new space we had to rip out the existing drop ceiling, as well as the sheetrock. This gave us a clean slate to create a beautiful space for the incoming in-law. For the bathroom, we put in Mantra shaker cabinets as well as a seat within the shower to improve accessibility. Using our vinyl wall panels and dark walnut Elite plank, we finished the remaining spaces for the living room, bedroom, and kitchen. To make it truly seem like a real apartment, we then installed an exterior door leading to the garage so their mother could come and go as she pleased. Now she can have as much family, and as much privacy, as she pleases!

Comfort and accessibility were both keys, as well as providing a separate entrance to the apartment. However, we had to clear out the old before we could go in with the new.

Why Soundproofing Your Basement Might Be Right For You

The instruments are loud. Lessons are expensive. Practice makes perfect. Do you see where I'm going with this? If you have children who want to or are starting to play an instrument, a soundproof basement is a perfect place for them to practice.

The instruments are loud. Lessons are expensive. Practice makes perfect. Do you see where I’m going with this? My parents never got me a drum set when I was a kid because it would be too loud to have in the house. Had my basement been soundproofed, however, I might have been a world-class percussionist by now. If you have children who want to or are starting to play an instrument, a soundproof basement is a perfect place for them to practice. You can even learn or practice yourself! Here are some great reasons why you should consider soundproofing your basement:

So why not practice your instrument at home? With a soundproof basement, you can hone your skills from the comfort of your own home. This makes staying committed to learning and improving much easier, because you can do it anytime you like, for as long as you like. You can take a lunch break, and come back to it. It is a great way to keep kids off their phones and focused on something productive. Who knows, maybe your child has the potential to be an amazing musician. With a designated practice area at home, they will be able to play their hearts out without filling the house with noise!

With a soundproof basement, musicians can take full advantage of online instrument learning and play along at their own pace, without tailoring their habits to their teacher or peers. Plus there are tons of free resources online to teach music step by step, on YouTube especially. So if times get tough, you don’t have to cut off your kids' lessons, and by extension their practice time. A soundproof basement can also add to your home's resale value!

Their plans for the new space included a new home office, as well as a space they could designate as a home gym. In addition to those two new rooms, they also had a few problems that needed tackling. Things like their electrical panel, server rack, and water heater were to be covered up with louvered doors for access. We also noticed that their PVC trap was leaking sewer gasses into their basement, so we offered to fix that at no charge.

They had been wanting to be able to have a space dedicated to crafts comfortably within their home, and now they do! On the outside, the sofft fits in really well, and looks great!

After putting it off for a while they decided it would be great to get back home to a new basement! It is rather small, but needs a lot of work. The plaster ceiling needed to be patched, and they wanted a small closet to be installed to close off the water main and sewer cleanout. Since they were getting older, the homeowners wanted a little more security in the form of a handrail for their basement stairs. Moisture was also a problem which needed to be addressed in the basement. On the exterior, they asked us to install a soffit on their perimeter walls. That kind of building is usually out of our scope of work but we were still more than capable and happy to do it!

They contacted TBF because they wanted to build a separate bedroom and bathroom for her. In time, they want to finish the rest of the basement into a family room, home gym, and a dry storage space. TBF will also be doing that project, but they want to take this large basement one step at a time.

This project was especially inclusive - meaning the clients were involved in the management of the project throughout. This ensures maximum satisfaction and completely eliminates any surprises. Not all homeowners have time for this but it might be worth it for some who want to be more involved. This meant they were extra happy with the office, tv area, and bathroom we finished for them and the end result was exactly what they were looking for. In terms of materials we used for the space, TBF used out Paintable wall panels, a white linen drop ceiling, and Dark Walnut Elite plank flooring.

For this basement project, the homeowners wanted TBF to create a half bathroom, a home office space, and a tv area within their new basement. Their problem with the current space was a common one, and responsible for a lot of the calls we get. It was dark, and had substantial water and moisture damage. Not fit for a family. When we surveyed the existing space, we determined that it would have to be demolished, to make way for a fresh start. That way we could completely refinish the space and make sure that the moisture would never return.

The Many Benefits of Having a Basement Pantry

How would a subterranean addition to your home impact your cooking and eating habits? The answer is as simple as adding in some shelves downstairs to create a pantry in your basement.

Common areas that can do with decluttering include your garage, closets, bedrooms, home offices - anywhere in your house. But you might not think that having a finished basement can help out your kitchen! But how would a subterranean addition to your home impact your cooking and eating habits? The answer is as simple as adding in some shelves downstairs to create a pantry in your basement.

But luckily for us, we have always had a basement pantry. This way, we are always ready to buy all sorts of items wholesale; meaning we can save a ton of money while also having a stock of anything we might need. Due to our extra storage, we have all sorts of non-perishable foods, as well as items like paper towels, toilet paper, and cleaning supplies. So that rushed car ride into town now is replaced by a quick walk downstairs once you realize you’re missing an ingredient for dinner.

My basement pantry entirely consists of two shelving units floor to ceiling in one part of my basement. This alone is a massive help to us, but you can create a pleasant designated area that is inviting and spacious as you like depending on your needs.

Whether you have a big or small family, basement pantries can still save you significant amounts by letting you buy in bulk. So if your basement is unfinished, this is one of the many benefits of getting that project off your to-do list. Besides having a basement pantry, there are plenty of reasons to have a finished basement. Please check out our “Reasons to Remodel” section of our website under the “Services” tab to learn more! And if it is finished, what are you waiting for!

Making a Dark, Uncomfortable Basement into an Inviting and Well-Lit Space!

The homeowner was referred to Total Basement Finishing, A Blackdog Affiliate, by a friend who was very satisfied with his newly finished basement. Our mission for this project was to make this space somewhere that the homeowner could enjoy. We started with installing a linen drop ceiling complete with 10 LED ceiling lights and two light switches. For the walls, new baseboards and crowns were installed, as well as a PVC cap on the knee wall. Oak stairs(Dusk) were installed to match the floor(Espresso), and a new Nevada window was installed to replace the old and outdated one.

Moving on to the washer and dryer issue, the space was completely redone. The doorway was widened and reframed to improve access and allow removal of the appliances if need be, and a standard opening was fitted to allow the installation of bifold doors to close off the space when not in use. By the end of the job, the homeowner was pleased with his new stairs, walls, ceiling and lights, and laundry space. What was once a dim, cramped space is now a comfortable, well lit, and often used basement.

Client has a basement that was framed and insulated by the previous owner themselves, which had outlets but lacked something very important - overhead lights. There is also a space for a washer and dryer, but it was very cramped and made it very difficult to remove the appliances should it be necessary. Overall, the homeowner does not enjoy using the space and wishes it was more comfortable.

The solution provided by TBF was a complete redesign of the basement layout, to fulfill all the wishes of the homeowners. To meet the needs of many similar homeowners in these times of Covid-19, two home offices were installed with access to a full bathroom to ensure that they could accomplish a full day's work in the comfort of their own home. Also, the kids and grandkids now have a great space to use when they come and visit, and everybody can enjoy the newly finished space without worry of dampness creeping in.

This homeowner wanted to completely change the layout of their pre-existing basement. Due to Covid-19, the homeowners wanted to add two new home offices in their basement, from which they could work from home. They also wanted to add in a full bathroom for convenience and comfort purposes, and a family and entertainment space for when they have family visiting. Making sure there was no moisture getting in with the newly designed basement was also a focal point. As they would be spending a considerate amount of time down there, having dampness would be very bad and having the offices especially be dry spaces was very important.

The TBF designers managed to craft an excellent solution to the challenge of moving the mother into daughter’s home. With a very nice and comfortable bedroom and bathroom to call her own, the mother will be more than happy to live in the basement. She also has a pleasant living space where she can relax, which takes advantage of the natural light to provide a well lit area for to unwind. Styled with gray Elite plank floors, paintable paneling, and a linen ceiling, it is a very nice place to live overall.

This homeowner was having her mother planning to move in with her, but at the time she was lacking the necessary space for the both of them. She needed a solution quickly, so she called TBF. Their vision for the basement was to install a bedroom, a ¾ bathroom, and a living space for the mother so she could move into the basement and save the both of them some room and privacy. Family moving in together can always spark some difficulties, so having separate living spaces is a necessity and a great welcome for the mother into the home.

Partial Basement Finishing
2018-01-12T00:00:00.05Z
Gwen Hurd
Partial basement finishing is a great option when you need more space but don't have a large enough budget to finish the entire basement.

If your house is almost perfect and you don’t want to move, and if there’s just one thing your home is missing, an additional room could completely solve your problems.

You could add an addition to your home, but that’s incredibly costly. You could finish your basement, but if you have a huge basement, that might also be too expensive.

If you’ve got a huge basement and a less than huge budget, I have some great news. You don’t have to finish your whole basement. If you only need an extra bathroom and hang out room, you only need to finish those spaces. You can leave the rest of your basement untouched.

You can carve out the exact space that you need to be comfortable.

And a partially finished basement doesn’t have to look partially finished. We can build you a completely finished room, with a door leading to the unfinished space. Typically, boilers and furnace equipment are in the unfinished section, so you’ll still want access.

In the future, if you need even more space, you can always finish the remainder of your basement. And with a basement system, you can be sure that each additional room you add will look cohesive.
