Looking at doing basement finishing in a 1 to 2 year time horizon and want to know what is and is not possible and potential pricing at this time. I highly recommend them. They did a great job with our basement and were very responsive to any issues that came up during the process. Even when there was a discrepancy between what was done and what I remembered being agreed to at the beginning of the project (but not in the contract) they were happy to redo it the way that I wanted and at no extra cost.

TBF was fantastic right from the start providing step by step guidance on the possibilities and expenses for my basement construction. It certainly helped in our decision process and peace of mind. Once the project started, the design work completion, arranging the town inspectors for initial surveys, electrician work and finally the heavylifting work for the floors, ceiling, panels etc was done professionally, with high quality, on time and was excellently project-managed right till the end to final inspections and sign off. We couldn’t be happier and would highly recommend TBF to anyone wishing to get your dream basement. Yes, they are slightly expensive than regular individual contractors but the range of services, quality and professionalism is totally worth it.

A Wet Bar and Entertaining Area

A couple in Bedford, Massachusetts, would like to have a large part of their basement finished for entertaining. They would like a wet bar near the stairs, and will leave the rest of the room open for entertainment. The small portion they will leave unfinished will be used for storage.

We used our EverLast vinyl wall system in white with finished linen ceiling tiles. We added base electrical, all new outlets, and recessed can lights. We replaced the existing stairs with a hand rail and open mahogany railing in white trim. Finally, we added Thermal Dry flooring and electrical baseboard heat.

Entertaining in Bedford

Homeowners in Bedford, Massachusetts, decided to add an entertainment space in their basement. We only finished half of the space, leaving the rest as dry storage. To finish the walls and flooring, we used our EverLast vinyl system in white and our ThermalDry plank flooring. We added modern doorknobs to their existing doors, changed out all of their switches and outlets, and added recessed can lighting. To make the space more cohesive, we installed decorative post surrounds to their weight-bearing posts and baseboard heating to make the space more comfortable. This resulted in a beautiful new space perfect for entertaining out on the patio beyond the basement.

The Best of Friends and Best of Homeowners

Challenge: Two women who have been best friends for years purchased a home together as an investment. The home is beautiful, with a large backyard and a basement walkway that leads to it. They would like to use their backyard and basement for entertaining their guests, but unfortunately, their basement is unfinished. This makes it one of the only places in the house in need of renovation. They have plumbing set up in the basement already, but no bathroom.

Solution: We finished their basement as one large space and a bathroom. To create a good layout, we had to move the plumbing to where the bathroom fit best. We built a simple wet bar, and matched the staircase in the basement to the existing staircase on the first floor. The two had Emtek door knobs throughout their house, so instead of installing our own, they had their locksmith install the same doorknobs after we finished the renovation. The two friends ended up with a beautiful space for entertainment, and a second bathroom which could be used by guests without having to go through the entire house.
