Old basement gets new beginning
A woman from Hudson, NH needed some TLC for her basement space. After repairing existing water damage, she contacted Total Basement Finishing, a Blackdog Affiliate, to turn her basement into a livable area. TBF removed the wall attached to the bottom of the staircase to create an open living plan and installed a closet to create more storage. TBF also removed her existing ceilings and fake beams, and replaced it with a beautiful, modern, linen ceiling.
Finishing Walls in Hudson
A woman living in Hudson, New Hampshire, is working on finishing her basement. She is acting as the general contractor of this project and is only looking for walls. Although we usually do complete basement finishing, when a homeowner only needs a few items but is very interested in our system, we try to accommodate them where we can. We gave her our EverLast wall system to be used around the perimeter of the basement. In this case, our vinyl system was best suited for her needs.
A Partial Finish in Sudbury, Massachusetts
A family in Sudbury, Massachusetts, is looking to have their basement finished. Although they already have a portion finished and use it regularly, the unfinished segment is connected to the stairs, forcing them to walk through an unfinished area to get to the finished space. We will start the project by installing our paintable wall system around the perimeter and replacing their existing interior door with a 6-panel with nickel door knob. In the unfinished space, there are two existing windows, but they are completely blocked and do not allow light in. For that reason, we will be covering those windows and adding a new Egress in a portion of the basement to allow the most possible natural light in. For the flooring, we will be installing our ThermalDry Elite plank in grey across the whole area. For finishing touches, we will cover existing posts with decorative post surrounds, install recessed LED lighting, and add an open oak railing to the stairs. This will result in a beautiful space that blends well into their existing room.
A Multi-Purpose Space in Sudbury
A man contacted us after purchasing his new home in Sudbury, Massachusetts, about having his basement finished. He has a family and a few children who are now teenagers. Ideally, he would like to have the basement transformed into a multi-purpose space. This would give him a workout area and his children a place to spend time in the house. Although the homeowner had a busy schedule, we found a time for our initial consult and were able to take some detailed measurements of the space. With the upcoming move, this is not the right time to undergo a full basement finish, but after some time, they will have a plan of action for a brand-new and improved space.
Expanding Living Space in Sudbury
A family in Sudbury, Massachusetts, is looking to create more space in their 2500-square-foot ranch. As this is an older home, a lot of work needs to be done to inspect the basement to see if it will be suitable as an additional living space. Living space, unlike clean storage, has a lot of requirements to be brought up to code. When we met for the first time, the scope of the project quickly expanded, and we created a design that included a bedroom, a 3/4 bathroom, and a wet bar. Since the scope had expanded, the family decided to put the project on hold until they could sustain a larger project. We scheduled a date to check back in and look forward to giving them their dream space soon.

The Best Way To Expand Your Living Space
Challenge: A retired couple lives in a beautiful Auburn, New Hampshire house. They have a family business now run by their children and often watch their grandchildren. They have a large, unfinished basement that they would like to finish as extra living space. In addition, they would like a playroom and TV room. This will allow them plenty of space for their grandchildren to stay.   Solution: We created a bathroom with a double bowl vanity and an attached bedroom. We also added a living, kitchen, and dining area. We installed kitchen countertops, cabinets, a sink, and a faucet that they selected and added in our gray Elite Plank in the kitchen. In the rest of the space, we added our pecan Elite Plank. Their driveway allowed for excellent access to this new space, resulting in a large room they didn’t previously have.
Foresight For Flooding
Challenge: Not every great project is a big project. In the case of a family in Concord, Massachusetts, their basement had already been finished. This customer found our flooring products and immediately loved the quality and warranties that came with them. His basement was originally finished with carpet, which could have eventually been susceptible to mold and mildew. To avoid this, the customer thought ahead and found Total Basement Finishing, A Blackdog Affiliate.   Solution: We began this project by pulling up the carpeting that had been installed when the basement was previously finished. It wasn’t glued to the floor, which made removal quick and easy. In addition to installing our ElitePlank Flooring, we also finished a section of wall between the exterior door and bulkhead, which hadn’t been done before. The client was very happy knowing he had basement flooring to survive future flooding.
A Basement Bedroom in Chelmsford
Many people see their unfinished basements as wasted space, if you don't already have windows in the basement, you can't create a new bedroom due to building codes... right? Wrong! At Total Basement Finishing, a Blackdog Affiliate, we are comfortable with creating egress windows for our clients. Bedrooms must have these windows to be considered bedrooms in real estate listings. David, a Chelmsford homeowner, really wanted to add more value to his home. Since almost nothing adds value like an extra bedroom, David was set on creating that space in his basement. We were prepared and there to help! Now David has his basement bedroom, and because it has an egress window, it's completely to code!
