Making a Basement Oceanside Ready
A couple moving to a condominium community in Wells, Maine, wanted to have their basement finished in a way that would make it suitable for being so close to the ocean. We began the project by tearing out the existing flooring and walls, which were susceptible to mold and mildew. After this, we installed our EverLast vinyl wall system around the perimeter and added a few walls to separate the space. We installed our linen ceiling tiles across the entire space, then added new canned recessed LED lighting. To make the space comfortable, we added electrical baseboard heat and included a SaniDry dehumidifier. Finally, we replaced the existing stairs with oak treads, painted risers, and oak railings, and used our light pecan-colored ElitePlank flooring across the space.
