Small Jobs; Big Differences
While some companies have project size minimums, we provide basement finishing in whatever shape and size the homeowners need. Occasionally, we are presented with projects where a homeowner only needs flooring, walls, or a new ceiling. In this case, the homeowner had a smaller space she wanted to use to add a half bathroom and clean storage to her home. Ultimately, we provided her with two design options at different costs for the homeowner to choose between. This is because the cost of finishing the space into a family room is very different than finishing the space and adding the plumbing and various other requirements for a bathroom. We will be happy to accommodate either decision to provide the homeowner with the best space possible within her given budget.
Partially Finished Basement Turned Beautiful
This couple was eager to finish their partially finished basement and make it a beautiful space to hangout and relax with their 3 young children. When water damage ruined the carpet leaving the space unusable, it was the final push they needed to call our team for help. When our team arrived to the beautiful home in Amherst NH they saw a basement living room with finished walls, finished ceiling and a ripped out carpet. With mom staying home with the children and dad working from home it made sense that this family would want a nice cozy living space to escape and watch movies. Our team created a design that worked perfectly with this family’s needs and desires. They decided to add a double hung window to bring in some natural light and a hearth for a wood stove. They also opened up the staircase and added a beautiful mahogany railing to one side. They added a closet under the stairs for storage and a full bathroom to complete the space. Their partially finished basement is now the basement of their dreams thanks to our team at Total Basement Finishing!
A Kitchen, Bath, and Basement Finish in Concord
A professional couple has a home in Concord, New Hampshire, in need of basement finishing. They currently have a drop ceiling and sheetrock, which we will be tearing out because it isn't made of basement environment-friendly materials.  We replaced the old ceiling with our finished linen ceiling tiles and replaced the sheetrock walls with our EverLast wall system in white. We then installed recessed can lights throughout the space and decorative post surrounds on the existing posts. We also added MillCreek flooring in natural oak. This finish included a kitchenette, a full bathroom, and a new exterior door. This resulted in a beautifully finished, modern space.
Mold Removing Before Basement Finishing
A couple in Concord, New Hampshire, found us through a referral from the Indoor Doctor. They are looking into having their basement finished by creating a large, functional space. To do this, they have to first have their existing carpeting removed. This is because the carpet is not suitable for a damp and humid basement environment. They would also like to have the existing walls in the basement to be torn down to make a larger space overall. However, before we can begin with this job, they have a few sections of mold throughout the basement that need prior treatment.
Waterproofing Before Basement Finishing
A homeowner in Concord, New Hampshire, has an unfinished basement she wants to finish. Mostly, she would like to remove a few non weight-bearing beams that get in the way and have them replaced by a beam. Upon speaking further, the homeowner mentioned she has water that occasionally comes in through the bottom of her exterior basement door. For this reason, we referred her to a waterproofing company, as we do not offer waterproofing ourselves.
Working with Lower Ceiling Heights
A young couple lives in a house in Pepperell, Massachusetts. Although the husband works from home, he would like to find a quieter space to work during the day. The family has an unfinished basement, but they aren’t sure if it will be tall enough to finish and make into a usable space. The basement height was challenging, but a portion of the basement was tall enough at 6'8 to be finished following local regulations. The portion that was not tall enough to be converted into an office or bathroom was instead made into clean storage so that no portion would be wasted space. We used our vinyl EverLast panel wall system, and painted ceilings to preserve as much height as possible. We installed MillCreek natural oak flooring, baseboard heating, and recessed can lighting. We also added a half bathroom and installed a sewage ejector, access panels, and decorative surrounds for their existing posts.
Adding Space for a Growing Family
Homeowners in Hollis, New Hampshire, bought their homes a few years ago and have remodeled everything except for their basements. Now, their family is growing, and they need the extra space that finishing their basement will provide. To begin, we added our wall system in white, all new 6-panel doors, both interior and exterior. We used our linen ceiling tiles throughout, added new outlets, smoke alarms, and recessed can lighting. Finally, we added a full bathroom in the space.
Making a Laundry Room in Goffstown
A couple of homeowners in Goffstown were looking to have half of their basements finished. The other half was finished previously and did not require any retouching. We used our wall system around the new space and linen 2X2 ceiling tiles. We added eight recessed can lights to these. We also added a SaniDry XP air filtration system, which would self lower the humidity levels in the entire basement. Finally, we installed our ThermalDry flooring. This resulted in nearly 300 additional square feet of useable space in their home.
Drywall Vs. Our System
A homeowner in Goffstown was looking to have her basement finished. Oftentimes, when we go out to a potential client's house who is looking at multiple companies, they will find one that offers drywall. Drywall is the less expensive choice and can be enticing on that quality alone. However, the reason we don't offer this is that while our materials are made specifically for basement environments, drywall is not. It can be completely destroyed by even small leaks and is, for that reason, very difficult to warranty. We believe in the quality of the work that we do and have a warranty for every project, which is why we cannot offer drywall. In this case, the homeowner ultimately decided to proceed with the less expensive option with another company.
Basement Gets new Wet Bar and Bathroom
Tim and Michelle are a couple from Groton, MA. As they are a growing family with two young children, they decided to expand their living space and finish their basement. Total Basement Finishing, a Blackdog Affiliate, added a bathroom and wet bar to the basement, as well as space for the growing kids and family to play.
